Special Evening of ‘Blues’ at Sarn village hall, Friday 3rd June.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you received my earlier message and have already booked your tickets. However, just in case you have not: Just two weeks from today, on Friday, 3rd June, 7.30pm, we are showing the film ‘CADILLAC RECORDS’, to be followed at 9.30pm by LIVE MUSIC from Eddy Gartry and his Blues band ‘BLUES STATE UK’.

The story of Chess Records followed by the story of Powys blues. What could be better?”A. Lennane, (a blues-o-phile of six decades.)

CADILLAC RECORDS is all about the rise and fall of Chess Records. It’s a tale of sex, violence, race and rock ‘n’ roll in 1950s / ’60s Chicago. This film portrays the lives of some of America’s (and the World’s) musical legends.

The film is both written and directed by Darnell Martin and it stars Adrien Brody (Leonard Chess), Jeffrey Wright (Muddy Waters), Columbus Short (Little Walter), Cedric The Entertainer (Willie Dixon), Mos Def (Chuck Berry) and Beyoncé (Etta James).

Tickets may be pre-booked on line here: http://www.artsalive.co.uk/film.aspx?id=4540

Packed with great music and some fine performances from a terrific cast.” Daily Record (UK)

“This one’s worth the price of admission for the music alone.” Quad City Times

Doors open 7.00pm for a 7.30pm screening.

Although Sarn’s village hall is spacious, for the film screening, the hall has a maximum ‘seated’ capacity of 150, which must be enforced. However, from 9.30pm, when the seats have been cleared and the LIVE MUSIC starts, further entrants will be allowed.

There is a single entrance fee of £5.00 per person ( no concessions, I’m afraid) which will apply no matter the time of entrance.

As usual, we will have a licenced bar, also offering tea, coffee and soft cold drinks. Although there will be no interval during the film screening itself, the bar will be open both before and after the film.

You can watch a trailer for the film here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeXuM-A6Xwg

Please note that CADILLAC RECORDS is a Cert. ‘15’ film. It contains frequent strong language and strong violence.

Please, please tell anyone and everyone else you know who might be interested.

Thank you.

I look forward to seeing you on 3rd June. It should be a truly great night.

My best

Owen
