Hello everyone,
A working party of four spent over ten man-hours this morning clearing up the Y.F.C.’s bonfire site. The task is far from finished, but I think we’ve made a good start. Due to the large number of nails still left on the site, we still need to temporarily fence off the area until it is rotovated ( George Wesley has very kindly offered to do this for us on Wednesday 15th Aug.) and further cleared with an electromagnet. With just one small non-electromagnet, I estimate that approximately 60lbs of nails and bolts etc. were recovered from the site this morning, let alone the mass of large metal items that were more visible and more easily removed by hand.
After my e-mail to Aaron Colley of 7th August, I understand that he dragged some of the larger pieces of metal out from among the thistles and left them at the edge of the bonfire site. Nonetheless, personally I am deeply disappointed that this morning not one member of the Y.F.C. turned up to offer any further help with clearing the site.
Owen
