William Stanier
ARCA (1948), FRSA, MSIA,; designer and glass-engraver; head of industrial glass dept, RCA, since 1949; Born Stourbridge, Worc, 20 Nov 1919; son of the late Charles David Stanier, MBE, glass-making instructor, Stourbridge School of Art; Married Monica Pugh; two sons. Educated: Stourbridge Grammar School, King Edward VI; studied art at Stourbridge School of Art, RCA (1939, 1945-48), Slojdforeningen Skola, Gothenburg, Konstfackscolen, Stockholm (1949).
